Valmet’s way forward – leadership program

Valmet is the world’s leading supplier and developer of process technology, automation solutions, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries.

After Valmet separated from Metso in 2013, one of the strategic goals was to strengthen a unified leadership culture in all 30 countries where it had operations. We co-designed the dialogue platform ‘Valmet’s way forward’ with Valmet’s representatives to achieve this goal. In addition, we trained HR personnel in different countries to facilitate dialogue workshops, which all Valmet managers and supervisors attended.

Accomplishments

  • The managers realized that through effective leadership, they can achieve better economic results.
  • The managers understood what was expected of them at different stages of the business cycle.
  • The dialogue tool produced in 2015 continues to serve in onboarding new managers and as a support for the integration after acquisitions.
